Temple Facilities Assistant

About the role

The Temple Facilities Assistant supports the operation and maintenance of the Praia Temple, ensuring that all physical plant systems function efficiently and provide a welcoming environment for patrons. This full‑time, onsite position works under the Temple Facility Manager to keep mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment in optimal condition.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and service computerized heating, ventilation and air‑conditioning (HVAC) systems for maximum efficiency.
• Maintain water‑treatment equipment for boilers, culinary water, and cooling towers, performing pH, hardness and conductivity tests.
• Repair and service laundry and commercial kitchen equipment such as dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, ice makers and bread mixers.
• Manage baptismal font filtration and water‑purification systems, ensuring compliance with local water‑quality codes.
• Maintain high‑voltage three‑phase electrical wiring, motor control panels, and lighting systems (110 V, 277 V, 24 V).
• Service electronic systems including the Temple Recording System, TV terminals, printers, cable lines and power supplies.
• Adjust projection, sound and communication equipment as needed.
• Participate in annual facilities budgeting, time‑card submission and FMAT project administration.

Required profile

• Completion of at least two years of technical training in a skilled trade.
• Minimum four years of experience in that trade plus two years in physical‑plant operations.
• Hands‑on experience with electrical, plumbing, welding, carpentry, painting, general construction and floor‑covering work.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb and work rotating shifts.
• Basic computer proficiency and any licenses required by local law.
