Remote Medical Coder (US/UK)

About the role

We are looking for a meticulous Remote Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. The role involves reviewing complex patient records and assigning accurate diagnostic and procedural codes in compliance with US or UK coding standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review patient medical records, operative reports, discharge summaries, and outpatient notes to assign appropriate ICD‑10, CPT, HCPCS, OPCS‑4, or SNOMED CT codes.
• Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with federal, state, NHS, and payer‑specific guidelines.
• Identify documentation gaps, query clinicians for clarification, and resolve claim denials.
• Maintain data integrity, participate in audits, and stay current with coding guideline updates.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of hospital coding experience (inpatient or outpatient) in the US or UK.
• Active certification from AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, CCS, CIC, COC) or equivalent UK certification.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
• Reliable remote work setup: modern computer, high‑speed internet, UPS or generator backup, and a quiet HIPAA/GDPR‑compliant workspace.

Required skills

• ICD‑10‑CM, CPT, HCPCS, OPCS‑4, SNOMED CT coding standards.
• Electronic Health Record systems: Epic, Cerner, EMIS Web, SystmOne.
