Senior Climate-Resilient Infrastructure Expert

About the role

NTU International is looking for a senior expert to lead climate‑resilience integration into transport infrastructure projects across the ECOWAS region. The role supports the EU‑funded Technical Assistance to ECOWAS in Transport Governance, helping regional authorities embed adaptation and sustainability into mobility systems.

Key responsibilities

• Integrate climate‑resilience and adaptation measures into transport infrastructure and corridor initiatives.
• Provide technical assistance on climate‑proofing methods, disaster risk reduction, and resilient design.
• Conduct climate vulnerability assessments, resilience analyses, and climate‑risk screening for transport projects.
• Develop climate‑resilient infrastructure standards, technical guidelines, and operational frameworks.
• Advise ECOWAS institutions and Member States on resilient transport planning and adaptation strategies.
• Support preparation of technical studies, policy recommendations, and capacity‑building workshops.
• Coordinate with transport authorities, environmental agencies, development partners, and regional stakeholders.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in civil engineering, climate change, environmental engineering, infrastructure resilience, disaster risk management or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in climate resilience, infrastructure adaptation, or transport engineering.
• At least 7 years of experience specifically in climate‑resilient infrastructure or disaster risk management.
• Proven experience on infrastructure or transport projects in developing countries, preferably in Sub‑Saharan Africa.
• Experience with international development cooperation and donor‑funded programmes.
