Remote Medical Coder – Hospital Coding Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a meticulous Remote Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will apply US or UK coding standards to complex patient records, ensuring accurate reimbursement and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyze inpatient and outpatient medical records, assigning appropriate ICD‑10, CPT, HCPCS, OPCS‑4 or SNOMED CT codes.
• Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with federal, state, NHS or payer guidelines.
• Identify documentation gaps, query clinicians, and resolve coding errors.
• Optimize reimbursement by correcting claim denials and maintaining data integrity.
• Participate in audits and stay current with coding guideline updates.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of hospital coding experience (inpatient or outpatient) in the US or UK.
• Active certification from AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, CCS, CIC, COC) or equivalent UK credential.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and pharmacology.
• Proficiency with EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, EMIS Web or SystmOne.
• Reliable computer (Windows 10/11 or macOS 12+), high‑speed internet and a verified backup power supply.
• Quiet, secure, HIPAA/GDPR‑compliant workspace.
