About the role
The Group, Conference, and Events (GCE) Sales Manager leads the GCE sales office and on‑property reservations team, turning enquiries into confirmed bookings. This role focuses on building strong client relationships, maximising revenue, and ensuring the hotel remains competitive in the local market.
Key responsibilities
- Maximise all Group, Conference, and Event revenue opportunities.
- Review business plans, identify gaps and proactively fill capacity to meet targets.
- Contribute to the hotel’s selling strategy and ensure departmental alignment.
- Monitor the competitive landscape and implement tactics to stay ahead.
- Conduct weekly spot checks on bookings, achieving at least 90% compliance in audits.
- Develop the GCE sales team, fostering high standards in relationship building, customer service, selling techniques, and contract processing.
- Organise hotel promotional activities and support succession planning.
Required profile
- Previous managerial or supervisory experience in reservations and/or conference and events sales within the hotel or leisure sector.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and organisational skills.
- Proven selling capability and ability to coach team members.
- Accountability, resilience, and ability to work under pressure.
- Flexibility to adapt to varying work situations.
- Advantageous: knowledge of hotel property management systems, prior experience in a similar role, Portuguese and English fluency.
