Communications Intern

About the role

The United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in Cabo Verde is seeking a Communications Intern to support its public information and outreach activities. This unpaid, full‑time internship lasts from two to six months and offers hands‑on experience with UN Country Team communications.

Key responsibilities

• Produce simple, engaging multimedia content such as short videos, reels, photos, infographics and visual briefs using mobile devices and free software.
• Draft, edit and adapt communication materials including press releases, web stories, social media posts, reports, briefing notes, captions and talking points.
• Update and maintain the UN Cabo Verde website and social media platforms, ensuring timely and audience‑friendly content.
• Support photography, basic video recording and editing, graphic design, and formatting for meetings, campaigns and public events.
• Conduct media monitoring, track public information opportunities and compile background information for press briefings.
• Assist in organizing communication‑related events, workshops, consultations and public outreach activities.
• Maintain communication calendars, mailing lists, media contacts, photo/video archives and internal databases.
• Coordinate visibility activities with UN agencies, partners, government counterparts and civil society.

Required profile

• Available for a minimum of two months and up to six months.
• Able to work full‑time under the supervision of a Communications Officer.
