Country Lead – RESIslands Initiative (Cabo Verde)

About the role

The Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) is seeking a Country Lead to drive the RESIslands Initiative in Cabo Verde. This six‑month consultancy will coordinate national activities, align them with government priorities, and strengthen institutional capacity to manage climate‑related risks.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the in‑country focal point for all RESIslands activities, ensuring effective implementation and stakeholder engagement.
• Facilitate consultations, workshops, trainings and meetings with ministries, the AISCC National Designated Authority and other partners.
• Provide local data, inputs and contextual analysis to support multi‑hazard risk assessments and project planning.
• Support the development of strategic frameworks, project pipelines and knowledge‑sharing mechanisms.
• Report to the UNECA Program Coordinator and maintain communication with the national NDA and AISCC NFP.

Required profile

• Proven experience in climate resilience, disaster risk management or related development programmes.
• Strong understanding of national policy environments in African island states.
• Excellent stakeholder‑engagement and facilitation skills.
• Ability to work independently and deliver results within a fixed‑term consultancy.
